Canadiens Take Win in Overtime!!

The Habs defeated the Leafs in a nail-biting game that went to overtime last night at the Air Canada Center.

Oh, Carey Price, our 6'3 rookie who stopped 37 of 40 shots! Thomas Plekanec who skated the length of the rink like a quarterback in football, passing the puck to Alex Kovalev who scored in a beautiful display of teammanship! Michael Komiserik, who defeated the great Raycroft one-on-one and won the game in overtime!!

Oh, what a game!

Toronto takes a point, and Montreal takes two for the overtime win. That was real hockey!!

Ode to Plekanec Joy, No. 14

Welcome, Tomas Plekanec, from the Czech Republic! Thank you for your dedication to working with the Hamilton Bulldogs for so many years, and for bringing that experience and skill to our Habs (again) this year. With 5 goals (2 of them game-winning), and 8 assists in 16 games, you are clearly on the road to a successful career in the NHL. I hope we get to see more of you, and tomorrow night in Toronto, please kick some Maple Leaf ass!

*I love Cristobal Huet (sorry Théodore!)!

Nostalgia

According to Wikipedia nostalgia has a history of meaning something in medical terms: Greek roots (νόστος = nostos = returning home, and άλγος = algos = pain/longing)to refer to "the pain a sick person feels because he wishes to return to his native land, and fears never to see it again".

But boy, when I look at pictures of myself 10 years ago, all I wish for is that ass and that body. Woohoo I was SMOKIN' hot! Good thing there is also trying to relive one's youth...or recapture it...or work back towards it?

Remembrance Day - November 11

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

(*As an afterword, I'd like to point out that the lines "To you from failing hands we throw the torch; be yours to hold it high" have been adopted as the motto of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team =))

Holy Puck, the Schedule is Out of Control

According to the "new" NHL rules, each hockey team will play eight games against each team in their division. That totals 32 of 82 games, or about 40%.

The Habs and Leafs played each other for the third time already this year. I was shocked to find out that they're playing three times in November alone. The question arises that if they're playing each other all the time, does the anticipation, rivalry, and intensity between our most bitter rivals diminish?

I don't know how I'll feel for the game at the end of this month, but I don't expect to have the same breathless anticipation I did when Montreal met Toronto for the very first time this year.

I mean, it's still hockey. I love hockey. Go Habs!

Something to Post About

So my buddy posted on his blog that it's National Blog Posting Month and I had no idea. I posted this on NaBloPoMo, but I'm not sure if/how it might tie to Blogger, so I'm posting it here until I figure that out.

I also don't have a lot to say or the clarity to write a lot at this time. But I do have something on my mind that I would like to know the answer to. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks that Eric Close looks like and must be Michael Keaton's illegitimate son - what do you think?
